Golf Hill

Golf Hill
Right at the city center, tourists can catch sight of a cluster of round hills, like grassland, reflected in the calm lake mirror. Golf Hill is widely considered as the heart and bread of Dalat City

Golf Hill and Xuan Huong Lake are close at hand and often mentioned as a single name – DaLat City is commonly thought not to be so lovely without Gold hill and Xuan Huong Lake. As soon as 1942, when designing the architectural project for Dalat, French architect Lagisquet assigned these hill to be absolutely put aside for a fine view of the spacious area from DaLat City. Later an English architect designed Golf Hill to be a nine-hole golf course, which became rather famous in Southeast Asia.

Nobody knows when the Vietnamese name of “Golf Hill” came out but there exit two explanations of its origin. Some people say those gently sloping hills look like bare backs of giant peg tops so it is called “Golf Hill”, meaning’Peg Top Hills’. Others explained that they called this place ‘Golf Hill’, meaning a Hill for Golf; so the name of a game has become the name of a hill.

Golf Hill has now been upgraded into an eighteen-hole golf course by a joint venture of Dalattourist Company and Da Nao Company, Hong Kong.
